How it works
- Measure the lawn once: type the area, or add it up as rectangles, circles and triangles and subtract the beds, paths and sheds inside it. The three calculators share that figure.
- Pick the tool. Sod: your supplier's roll size and rolls per pallet, plus the extra for cuts. Seed: the grass type and whether it is a new lawn or overseeding. Fertilizer: the three numbers on the bag and the nitrogen you want per application. Every pre-filled field shows its source and the date it was read; change it to what your bag or supplier says.
- Add a price and the cost appears. Nothing is uploaded: the numbers stay in your browser, and Pro reads them from there for the lawn plan and the 12-month calendar.
Units follow the region you pick: US first, then UK / metric (US (sq ft, lb, $); UK / metric (m², kg, £)). The maths is the same everywhere; only the units and the starting values change, and each region’s starting values have their own sources.
Where the rates come from
Seed rates by grass type from Penn State, NC State and University of Maryland Extension; nitrogen rates, the single-application limit and the cool-season calendar from Purdue Extension; the warm-season calendar from Clemson Extension; UK mowing, feeding and autumn care from the RHS; roll, bag and label figures from Rolawn, CT Sod, Twin City Seed, Scotts and Westland pages. Each figure shows its source and the date it was read under the field and in the sources list at the bottom of every calculator.

Frequently asked questions
- Are the calculators free?
- Yes, all three, with no limit and no sign-up. Pro is a paid extra for people who want the three results on one printable plan with a 12-month calendar; the free tools do not change.
- How do I measure an irregular lawn?
- Pick "Measure it as shapes" in any calculator: add rectangles, circles and triangles for the lawn and again for the obstacles inside it (beds, paths, a shed), and the area is the sum minus the obstacles. It is saved once and the other calculators use it.
- Do the tools work for UK lawns in m² and kg?
- Yes. Switch the region to UK / metric: turf rolls of 1 m² with 5% extra (Rolawn), seed rates in g/m² from UK labels, fertilizer in g/m² with the RHS feeding months, prices in £.
- What does Pro add?
